West African franc (CFA - Financial Community of Africa) is the official currency in Burkina Faso, Benin, Cote d`Ivoir, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo

 

The international currency code of the monetary unit is XOF.

 

One franc is subdivided into 100 centimes.

 

West African franc was introduced in the French colonies in 1945 replacing the French West African franc.

 

Coins in circulation have nominal values of: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 500 francs.

 

Banknotes have nominal value of 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10,000 francs.
